Cathy Lipsett
In addition to her background as a newspaper publisher and magazine editor, Mrs. Lipsett served as an appointed, then elected member of the Marietta City Schools Board of Education for eight years, serving as chairman in 1992. As a member of the Federal Relations Network for the Georgia Schools Boards Association, she lobbied state and federal legislators about educational concerns. She edited Avis Traveler, a national travel magazine. Prior to her ownership of The Southeast Georgian, she was assistant editor of Presbyterian Survey magazine and advertising service manager for the Georgia Press Association.
Education — Graduate work in English at Georgia State University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism with a joint major concentration in English.
Allan Lipsett
Mr. Lipsett served for six years as press secretary and spokesman for House Speaker Newt Gingrich. In that post he combined public relations, news writing, advertising, politics, media relations, governmental issues and crisis communications. Previously he was an account executive at Knapp, Inc. Corporate Communications, and was metro editor of the Marietta Daily Journal. Prior to ownership of The Southeast Georgian, he worked as a reporter and editor at Clayton News/Daily and Warner Robins Daily Sun.
Education — Graduate of Georgia State University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism with minors in political science and history.
